Reformation
When you partner with God to make the crooked ways straight.
What is reformation?
Connecting with God through reformation is partnering with Him to make the crooked ways straight through intercession and action. You feel close to the Lord when you hear what's on His heart, and you please Him in helping bring His Heavenly justice to the earth.

Isaiah 42:1-9 shares, “Behold my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights; I have put my Spirit upon him; he will bring forth justice to the nations. He will not cry aloud or lift up his voice, or make it heard in the street; a bruised reed he will not break, and a faintly burning wick he will not quench; he will faithfully bring forth justice. He will not grow faint or be discouraged till he has established justice in the earth; and the coastlands wait for his law. Thus says God, the Lord, who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and what comes from it who gives breath to the people on it and spirit to those who walk in it:

“I am the Lord; I have called you in righteousness; I will take you by the hand and keep you; I will give you as a covenant for the people, a light for the nations, to open the eyes that are blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, from the prison those who sit in darkness. I am the Lord; that is my name; my glory I give to no other, nor my praise to carved idols. Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.”

We can connect with God through reformation because Jesus first came to reform us! Jesus brought us out of darkness and into the light. He made every crooked way in us straight so we could approach Him. Jesus faithfully brings forth justice. It is not a justice that we think of in our human minds, because His thoughts and His ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:9). We deserved death, but God in His justice knew He needed to send His son in our place. His heart was grieved that we couldn’t have a daily relationship with Him because of our sins. The cross brought us reformation! When we connect with Him through reformation, we are getting to encounter His ways that are higher than our own. When you have your daily personal encounters, you are able to enter into His presence, hear what is on His heart, and partner with the Reformer, Jesus, in bringing Heaven to Earth.
How to Pray for Reformation
We are all called to prayer. In growing with connecting with God through reformation, pick up the call to pray and cry out to Heaven for God’s mercy and justice to be released over us.
Here are some practical tips as you pray for reformation in your daily encounters:

  • Pray over crooked areas first by asking God’s heart over them! What does God say about it? (topics to pray over: family, human trafficking, abortion, adoption, government, racial reconciliation, education boards, etc.)
  • Go into His courts with thanksgiving. Thank God for being the God of justice, that He is the one who works miracles, and that He does the heavy lifting.
  • In intercession, declare the highest authority--Jesus! He is the one who has authority over every spirit, injustice, and person!
  • Have no fear. Know your identity as a son and daughter. The Holy Spirit is in you!
  • Cry out for God’s justice, and then ask Him what you should do. Be an answer to prayers by obeying what God has told you to do about it!
Grow in how you connect with God
Learning how we connect with God shows us how we can enter into His presence daily. While you may have a best way to connect with Him, you can connect with God in all the ways. Use this guide below to help you grow in connecting with God through reformation by pairing it with your favorite way.
Reformation + Fasting
Fast for breakthrough in areas that need reformation! As you fast, pray for God’s righteousness and justice over human trafficking, racial reconciliation, government, abortion, the hungry, the lost, etc.
Reformation + Adoration
Sing about Heaven coming over the areas that need reformation. Your songs and sound minister to God’s heart and is warfare to expand territory! Before Israel’s army would be sent out into war, they had the Levites leading them in worship. Worship was the front line against the enemy! Keep this in mind in your daily encounters.
Reformation + Meditation
In your daily encounters, meditate on Scripture and allow it to transform you. As you meditate on Scripture, it is bringing reformation to you! If you need to grow in your passion for righteousness and justice, meditate on Scriptures about those topics and ask God for His heart to become your heart as you meet with Him.
Reformation + Creation
God created people! Ask God for His heart over His people and for Him to bend your heart to connect with Him through the people He’s created. Contend for them in your daily encounters and seek God’s heart for how He wants you to partner with Him in bringing His justice to the earth.
Reformation + Solitude
Let your daily encounters in solitude fill you up to pour out in reformation! Share your testimony with others and be a voice of intercession and Heavenly justice to those lost in the crooked ways. Give your daily encounter away!
Reformation + Expression
Write songs, dance, and create artwork that release God’s heart and solutions to the injustices that He is highlighting to you. In your daily encounters, capture His heart to express it to others.
Remembrance + Conversation
Let your conversations with God become intercession! Intercession is becoming a bridge between Heaven and Earth. Ask God questions to find out what grieves His heart. Begin to pray for those crooked ways to be made straight.
Reformation + Movement
Prayer walk or run on government properties, college campuses, etc. to pray for Heaven to be released over those areas. Pray for God’s righteousness and justice to be established as you connect with Him in movement and reformation!
Reformation + Remembrance
In your daily encounters, remember how God brought reformation to your life. Remember the darkness He pulled you out of! Remember the freedom He invited you into. Remember the crooked mindsets that He made straight within you. Pray from a place of knowing God’s faithfulness to bring reformation in the areas you are praying about because He did it for you!
Reformation + Compassion
God is a God of justice and mercy! As you grow in connecting with God and being His hands and feet, make sure you are not letting your passion for justice override the call to be compassionate to people. His kindness leads us to repentance. Reformation can happen by extending compassion to people!
Reformation + Learning
Ask God what is on His heart. What does He want to release in the earth? What has He given you a burden and passion for? Now, do what you can to learn about that topic and what you can do about it!
